An apology from your President--and an important message

I had an important meeting with many of the club officers last night. The
goal was to both apologize as well as help reorient myself and the club.
First and foremost, I would like to apologize. I have been forced to deal
with some personal issues in the last few months. Unfortunately, this timing
coincided exactly with the club needing me to step up and fill the void left
by the departure of our previous faculty advisor, Brent Woodruff. During
this time, many people in my life thought perhaps I had simply fallen off
the face of the Earth.
I feel that my failure to step up into my role as President has disappointed
not only returning club members but also graduated members, participants
from the community at large, and prospective members. It has allowed the
previous structure and success of the club to deteriorate into a rabble of
confused participants and failed events. We have had many motivated people
interesting in helping! For that, I thank you, but I have not provided the
necessary focus and direction needed to keep everyone from tugging in a
different direction. This is truly one of the greatest failures of my life,
and I do offer my most sincere apologies.
Now, where do we go from here? That is largely up to you. Yes, you.
During the meeting, the officers and I set both short- and long-term goals.
At the very least, I have deeply committed myself to the advancement,
growth, and enrichment of the App State Gaming Club and the gaming community
on campus. I intend to make myself as available as possible to the club. I
have notified all of the officers that being Monday, October 5th, I will be
reachable as near to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as possible. I would also
like to extend that offer to you. If you have a suggestion, if you have
criticism, if you want to help administer, plan an event, find an activity
tailored to your needs, or just want to know what the hell is going on,
please do not hesitant to contact me. My phone number, email, IM, et cetera
will be freely available.
The officers and I will be working tirelessly to help provide a better
environment for everyone as this semester wraps up and the spring one
begins. I will not be the only officer available (as I discussed above). All
of us became involved as officers because we love the interaction with
people. If you want to reach any of us, there is a contact page on
http://gaming.appstate.edu/ . In addition, we have a largely unused forum
that is hosted on a server without a domain name. On that forum, there will
be in-depth discussion of these (and other) issues I have mentioned. If you
would like to participate or simply keep up to date on the inner workings, I
will provide the link in the next few days.
I would like to view today as a rebirth of the club as we all had come to
know it.

Thank you,
Jordan Ryan
President of the App State Gaming Club
